Realm Status for Sept. 15

Realm Maintenance Momentum

Word continues to spread about the podcast, and over the past couple of weeks that shows no sign of stopping.

I’ve been a guest for episodes of Grand Old Podcast, 5 WoW Things, and Horde For Life. Rawrcast invited me to guest tomorrow. It looks like Holy Shatt will have me on a week from tomorrow…

Oh, and All Things Azeroth invited me to come on the show on Monday and fill in for Shade.

… this is the part where I pick my jaw up off the floor.

To say these last couple of weeks have been surreal is an understatement. It’s humbling, amazing, and confounding all at the same time… and words can’t really express my gratitude for how well the podcast is being accepted by many in the WoW podcast community.

Maybe it’s a self-esteem issue or something, I don’t know. I’m ecstatic but at the same time I keep wondering if I’ve earned this recognition and respect too quickly. I guess there’s really no sense dwelling on that. You folks like what I’m doing and I’ll keep doing it.

Segment Searching

On the Podcast Directory page you’ll notice I have a section for podcast segment makers. I just recently added Arashi’s Pets of Warcraft segment to the list.

I know I’m missing quite a few out there. If there’s one you know of that’s not on the list please email me at

The Madness is Over

Thanks to If Looks Could Kill, a raid team composed of AIE dignitas members (some of whom are hosts of My Epic Heals) I was able to defeat the Heroic Madness of Deathwing encounter prior to MoP. Yes, it was nerfed seven ways to Sunday, but I’m okay with that. I’m hardcasual… and defeating the final boss on the hardest difficulty this late is about where I would expect myself to be.

Going forward it looks like I’ll probably be a standby/backup on ILCK on my warlock. My “main” raider may actually be a healer this time around for all I know.

Sunday night the group takes a crack at Heroic Ragnaros. Should be interesting!

Easter Eggs

If you haven’t noticed by now, I’ve included a link at the end of the show notes of episodes #3 and #4. You can expect more random shenanigans like this in the future. And remember,  just because the link may not be in the show notes next time doesn’t mean the easter egg isn’t where you would think it would be.

Background Blues

The background for this blog is fine and all… but I’d love to upgrade it to something better. Get in touch with me if you have a better idea for a background. If you create something of your own that I end up using I’ll definitely try to find a way to show my appreciation!

Networks and Neutrality

Earlier this week I received an email from a podcast network asking me if I would like to have Realm Maintenance fly under their banner. Needless to say I was flattered by the invitation. Not much later I sent a reply thanking the network and declining to join up.

Don’t get me wrong… I think at some point in the future being part of a podcast production company/network would be healthy for the show’s continued lifespan. Right now though I’m still trying to make first contact with a number of podcasts, and for the time being I don’t want there to be any impression that Realm Maintenance shows favoritism to one show or network over another.

True, I do mention some podcasts much more frequently than others, but there are reasons for that. Some podcasts send me submissions for Podcast News on a frequent basis. Others just have plenty of things going on with their show every week.

Of course, there are podcasts I personally like more than others, and podcasts that may not be my own cup of tea. That said, my own preferences will never prevent any WoW-related podcast from having the opportunity to promote their show.

That’s how it is now, and that’s how it will always be, even if I the show is part of a network down the line.

That’s all for this week’s Realm Status. Podcast appearances, real life, and prep for MoP has kept me fairly busy so I haven’t done as much actual WoW blogging as I’d like. You’ll likely see this change a week or two into Mists.

Thanks as always for reading and feel free to leave feedback here.
