Earlier this week, Lignar and Medicakes from Epic Podcast announced their plans to have a 24 hours livestream event to raise money for the Child’s Play charity.
The following is taken direct from their email to Realm Maintenance and other podcasts. Whether you’re a podcaster or a podcastee I encourage you to mark your calendars and support this event when it comes around in several weeks.
If you’re part of a WoW podcast feel free to mention this event on your show as well as it does nothing but benefit a great charity and spread some love to both the WoW and SC2 community.
We would like to share with you that Epic Podcast will be doing a 24hr
live stream to raise money for Child’s Play from 10am Central time
Saturday April 6 until 10am Central time Sunday April 7. The event
will be streamed live at twitch.tv/epicpodcast.
As far as content for the stream, we have a lot in the works.
However, some of it depends on participation from the community. We
plan on fun runs through LFR with as many viewers as possible,
leveling some alts, perhaps some PvP, holding a pet battle tournament
as well as a Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm tournament, Starcraft 2
arcade matches, killing demons in Diablo 3, and slaying more demons
and zombies in The Secret World and possibly more (seriously, we have
24 hours to fill, it’s likely we’ll end up doing any number of
things). We’d like to include as many people from the community as we
can in these events, playing with/against them as possible.
We encourage players to not be intimidated by the Starcraft tournament
as we intend it to be lower level play with no pressure (no pros
here). Besides, it’s fun and it’s for charity! Lig and Medi will be
casting the event and they’ve never done that before, so having never
played in a tournament is no excuse!
For the tournament events, we’re planning on giving away a MoP
collector’s edition, J!nx gift certificates, a Vampiric Batling Battle
Pet, Pet store mounts and pets, TCG loot codes, WoW game time,
donating to the charity on the winners’ behalf and possibly more!
We’d appreciate any promotion you could provide, and would welcome you
to join us on the stream, or preferably in game(s), during the event.
We’ll be releasing more information, as well as a schedule of events,
via our podcast, website, email and twitter as we approach the date of
the stream. In the mean time, interested players can email
the rules we plan on using for the tournaments.
Thank you for your time!

About Child’s Play (summarized from http://www.childsplaycharity.
Child’s Play is a game industry charity dedicated to improving the
lives of children with toys and games in a network of over 70
hospitals worldwide. Over the years, the community has answered the
call and come together to raise millions of dollars.
Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we
set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun
stuff for kids. By clicking on a hospital on the map on the charity’s
site, donors can view a wish list for that hospital and send a gift.
Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With
those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games,
and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow
for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with
their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction
from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.
